Roberto Gammone

Roberto Gammone is a contemporary painter based in Rome, whose artistic practice moves sensitively between the intimate depth of portraiture and the urgent reflection on the social and environmental dynamics of our time.

In his portraits, he does not limit himself to mere physiognomic representation, but investigates the inner essence of the subjects. 

Each brushstroke is an attempt to reveal stories, emotions and the complex humanity that lies behind the gaze. 

Through a realistic and detailed painting technique the artist captures the vulnerability and strength of his models, creating works that resonate with deep empathy.

In parallel with his exploration of the human face, Gammone dedicates a significant part of his artistic research to social and environmental themes. 

His canvases thus become powerful vehicles of awareness, addressing crucial issues such as the climate change and the fragility of ecosystems, the conflictual relationship between humanity and nature, the profound emotional landscape shaped by our experiences with life's changes.

With a visual language evocative and symbolic, his works shake consciences, inviting the viewer to a critical reflection on the world around us and on our role within it. 

Gammone's art is a continuous dialogue between the individual and the collective, between the intrinsic beauty of the human being and the pressing need for a responsible commitment to the planet and society. 

His works are an invitation to look beyond the surface, to connect with the stories of others and to question our impact on the world.

His artistic career begins in an artistic duo creating works mainly for site-specific Installations but also gallery style paintings which were displayed in many important exhibitions in Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and Holland. He appears in many articles in important magazines including Flash Art Italia and Tema Celeste Art Magazine. 

During this earlier period of his carrier his most notable exhibitions were at Rome (IT), Napoleonic Museum, Gemine Muse-Le Jeu D'Hombre Lo sviluppo delle virtù cortesi, April 21- June 20, 2007 ;  Rome (IT), Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum, L'utopia Praticabile, June 25 - July 9, 2007, presented at MAXXI The National Museum of XXI Century, Rome, June 25, 2007;  Ancona (IT) Mole Vanvitelliana, Arrivi e Partenze Italia, February 15 - March 30, 2008;  Buttrio (IT), SPAC Space for Contemporary Art, Contro Ignoti, March 1 - March 31, 2008;  Aalst (BE) Netwerk Center for Contemporary Art, Cabinet of Imagination, curated by Lorenzo Benedetti, April 27 - June 7, 2008;

Subsequently he began to work exclusively on painting, especially portraits, immediately becoming part of important private and public collections.

He has received several awards including  "Sheng Xinyu Art Award" from the Art Renewal Center at the 16th International ARC Salon in Sotheby's New York, 2023; "People's Choice Award" from the Art Renewal Center at the 17th International ARC Salon in Sotheby's New York, 2026; "Certificate of Excellence" from the Portrait Society of America at the 26th Annual International Portrait Competition in Atlanta , 2024; "Honorable Mention Painting" from ModPortrait 2025, "Third Place Painting" from the Portrait Society of America at the 27th Annual International Portrait Competition in Washington , 2025.

In 2023 and 2025 he was included in  LUNAR CODEX; 

The Polaris Collection

, enclosed in cultural time capsule on the Griffin Lunar Lander, launched by SpaceX, and placed on the Moon in perpetuity.
